Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data Tide Referral Guide collects, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

The data controller for this site is Tide Referral Guide (Faisal Nisar, sole trader, United Kingdom). You can contact us via the contact page for any privacy question.

What we collect and why

  • Aggregate analytics — pages viewed, referring site, country, device type, browser and approximate session duration. We use this to understand which guides are useful and to fix broken pages. Lawful basis: legitimate interest in operating the site.
  • Contact form data — your name, email address and the content of your message, when you choose to contact us. We use this only to reply to you. Lawful basis: consent (you initiate the contact).
  • Referral click data — when you click through to Tide, the destination URL may include an affiliate identifier and a timestamp. This is processed by Tide, not by us. Lawful basis: legitimate interest in attributing referrals correctly.
  • Server logs — IP address, request path and user-agent, retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention. Lawful basis: legitimate interest in site security.

We do not collect financial data, account numbers, or any information about your Tide application or balances. That information lives only inside Tide.

Cookies

We use:

  • Strictly necessary cookies — to remember basic preferences such as your cookie choice and theme. These cannot be disabled because the site needs them to function.
  • Analytics cookies — privacy-respecting, IP-truncated analytics. Optional; you can decline these via our cookie banner or your browser settings.

We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking pixels.

How long we keep your data

  • Analytics: 14 months in aggregate form.
  • Contact form messages: up to 24 months after the last reply, then deleted.
  • Server logs: up to 30 days.

Who we share data with

We never sell personal data. We share limited data with a small number of processors that help us run the site:

  • Our hosting and CDN provider (to serve the website).
  • Our email provider (to receive contact form messages).
  • Our analytics provider (in aggregate, anonymised form).

Outbound clicks to Tide and other providers may pass an affiliate identifier so the destination can attribute the referral. Once you are on Tide's site, Tide's privacy policy applies.

International transfers

Some processors may store data outside the UK or EEA. Where they do, we rely on UK adequacy decisions or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to ensure equivalent protection.

Your rights under UK GDPR

You have the right to:

  • Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Ask us to delete your data ("right to erasure").
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interest.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the lawful basis.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

To exercise any of these rights, email us via the contact page. We aim to respond within 30 days.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Contact form messages are transmitted over TLS and stored in an access-controlled mailbox. We do not store payment information at any point.

Children

This site is intended for UK adults considering a business bank account. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change how we handle personal data, we will update this page and revise the date below. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
